It is commonly alleged by the skeptics that homeopathic remedies have not been tested and proven in clinical trials. For some people, this is a proof that homeopathy is a pseudoscientific system of medicine.
Here is what Dr. Aviva Romm, a Yale trained physician who specializes in integrative medicine, recently commented this for a New York Times article:
“Sometimes we don’t have evidence for a lot of common traditional practices because there isn’t a lot of economic value in studying them, but we have thousands of years of anecdotal data and we have enough evidence to prove its safety.”
That is, it comes down to economics. Homeopathic trials are not conducted as they are done for other medicines being developed by the pharmaceutical because there is little economic incentive in doing so.
The preparation method of Homeopathic medicines makes it extremely cost effect to produce and sell the remedies. Therefore, millions of dollars are neither needed nor make financial sense in investing in clinical trials as they are currently done in the healthcare industry.
